The municipality of Loul\u00e9, through the initiative “Loul\u00e9 creative”, throws a coppersmith course craftsmanship – the art of working copper and brass, in order to retrieve an activity that is not practical for many years.<\/p>\n
Even a decade ago, the last coppersmith in town was hear with the characteristic sounds of hammering of copper and brass, in the production of manual pans, chocolate pots and potholes.<\/p>\n
Nowadays, the old workshops of Coppersmiths are all closed and this activity remains only the memory of a few who have learned the craft for more than 50 years.<\/p>\n
The course comes as a solution to act quickly in order to transmit this knowledge and promote conditions for the installation of new coppersmiths with most current approaches in practice this traditional art.<\/p>\n
In the 150 hours that lasts the intensive course, the “Apprentice” will work with two teachers, learning to know and apply elementary techniques of work of a Boilermaker. Will also have a design module to explore creative possibilities of contemporary product design using the art of a Boilermaker.<\/p>\n
The course runs from October 3 to November 3, in Loul\u00e9, and is intended for adults in age, with experience or interest in craftsmanship, willing to carry out professional activity in the metal arts.<\/p>\n
It is a formation that is not certified as a strategy to support the transmission of knowledge, the artisan activity and stimulate the incorporation of innovation factors in production. To this end, post-training support will be given to the installation and creation of the economic activity of the new coppersmiths wagered in giving new life to a craft that is part of the soul of Loul\u00e9.<\/p>\n
