Combining his training in mechanical engineering with his experience working with a lathe and a deep passion for machinery and lathe work, Heinz-Jürgen Cramer, of German origin and living in the countryside of the municipality of Loulé, came in 2016 to learn how to work copper and brass at the Copper Workshop, with master Analide Carmo.
Combining this ancient technique with contemporary design, he creates decorative pieces, from bowls to candlesticks, centerpieces, decorative flowers, and even jewelry pieces such as bracelets and rings.
Jürgen Cramer was born in Germany. He is passionate about metalwork, and his academic and professional career has always been linked to this field. He is a mechanical engineer by training and enjoys building things. He came to Portugal about 20 years ago and has a renewable energy business.
In 2016, he had the opportunity to attend the Artisanal Coppersmith course, launched by the Loulé City Council, where he learned from master Analide Carmo how to work copper and brass using traditional methods and techniques. Today, he is part of the group of artisans at the Copper Workshop, where he creates a wide variety of objects.
He designs, makes accessories, and invents new and utilitarian pieces, but his favorites are decorative and contemporary pieces where he can let his imagination run wild.
