Os Ofícios vão à Escola

Motivado pela oportunidade de proporcionar aos viajantes uma experiência autêntica e interativa com a cultura local, o Município de Loulé criou em 2015 a Rede Loulé Criativo Turismo.

“Empreita” goes to School

In the school year of 2018/19, as part of the Iberian Heritage Biennial, Loulé City Council, through Loulé Criativo, launched the project “Empreita goes to School”, in which artisans from Casa da Empreita go to schools in the Municipality of Loulé to teach children in the 3rd and 4th years of primary school the entire palm empreita process, from harvesting the raw material, the palm preparation process, to the creation of the 5-branch braid.

Target Audience
Students from Loulé Municipal Schools (2nd and 3rd cycle and Secondary Education)

Program

  • the luthier profession and its specificities (what is a luthier, history and professional trajectory, what they do and how they work);
  • the different construction and repair processes for string instruments;
    the technology and economics of wood in the construction and repair of instruments;
  • the use of natural glues and varnishes, as well as other elements that are part of the daily activity;
    the importance of acoustics and technical design.
  • Note: The depth of the topics and content covered will be adapted according to the target audience of each session.

Luthier goes to School

Portugal is the country in the world with the largest number of traditional chordophones (stringed musical instruments). The richness, variety and particularity of the construction processes and techniques behind each of them is a heritage that is important to preserve and promote among the younger segments of the population, especially since many of them are on the verge of extinction and there are few master luthiers who dedicate themselves to the profession, keeping the traditional method of construction and restoration alive.
Given the fact that this is a subject that is part of the curriculum plans of the Music Education discipline and Loulé Criativo has a workshop and a master luthier dedicated to the activity of building stringed musical instruments in the city of Loulé, it is considered important to create a partnership with the Municipality’s Schools in order to develop actions related to this theme.

As a result, students will learn about and identify the different types of chordophones that exist, while also being introduced to the instrument construction process, the tools, materials, techniques used, and the life story of master luthier Manuel Amorim.

O Luthier vai à Escola

Portugal é o país do mundo com o maior número de cordofones tradicionais (instrumentos musicais de cordas). A riqueza, variedade e particularidade dos processos e técnicas de construção por detrás de cada um deles é um património que é importante preservar e divulgar junto das camadas mais jovens da população, até porque muitos deles se encontram à beira da extinção e são poucos os mestres luthiers que se dedicam à profissão, mantendo vivo o método tradicional de construção e restauro.
Atendendo ao facto desta ser uma matéria que faz parte dos planos curriculares da disciplina de Educação Musical e possuindo o Loulé Criativo uma oficina e uma mestre luthier dedicados à atividade de construção de instrumentos musicais de cordas na cidade de Loulé, considera-se importante a criação de uma parceria com as Escolas do Concelho de forma a desenvolver ações relacionadas com esta temática.

Como resultado os alunos ficarão a conhecer e a identificar os diferentes tipos de cordofones existentes, ao mesmo tempo que serão confrontados com o processo de construção dos instrumentos, as ferramentas, materiais, técnicas utilizadas e com o percurso de vida do mestre luthier Manuel Amorim.

Público Alvo
Alunos das Escolas do Concelho de Loulé (2º e 3º ciclo e Ensino Secundário)

Conteúdos programáticos

  • a profissão de luthier e as suas especificidades (o que é um luthier, história e percurso profissional, o que faz e como trabalha);
  • os diferentes processos construtivos e de reparação dos instrumentos de corda;
    a tecnologia e economia da madeira na construção e reparação dos instrumentos;
  • a utilização de colas e vernizes naturais, bem como outros elementos que fazem parte do dia-a-dia da atividade;
    a importância da acústica e do desenho técnico.
  • Nota: A profundidade dos temas e conteúdos abordados será adaptada de acordo com o público alvo de cada sessão.
