Wool Spinning with the Traditional Spinning Wheel

In this workshop, we will make an initial approach to the process of traditional wool spinning using a spinning wheel or spinning wheel. For this, we will use Portuguese merino sheep wool and other fibers. We will learn to select and prepare them to obtain the exact type of yarn we want to use in knitting, crochet, or manual weaving.
We will also cover topics such as: differentiation and types of spinning wheels; setting up a spinning wheel ready for spinning; basic and more advanced spinning techniques and understanding how different techniques can completely change the characteristics of the final yarn. Finally, we will learn various ways to wind and finish the yarn, which the participant will take home to work on.
